Mars in Close Proximity to the Earth

by: Govinda

Have you noticed that almost everything seems more intense during the past year? Do you feel that it is becoming more and more challenging to keep your cool? Relax – you are not alone.  Hopefully, the following information will help you to understand the energy of Mars and how it is affecting all of mankind.

Mars is the planet that affects our passions, anger, power and sexuality.  Normally, Mars is about 200 million miles from Earth.  It is now unusually close to Earth.  On October 31st, Mars came within 43 million miles from Earth. On August 27th, 2003, Mars passed within 35 million miles of planet Earth.  Last October was the second closest it has come to Earth in 60,000 years!

The Planet of War

Mars is the planet that rules war, anger, power, aggression and combustion. It gives energy to the warriors of our world. On March 19, 2003, as Mars approached its closest proximity to Earth, President Bush ordered an attack on Iraq.  As Mars approaches Earth again, the energies of war, anger and hostility are likely to increase. It may seem that the warmongers have increased power and influence over our lives. Remember, this is only temporal. By the last week in April, 2006, this aggressive energy should shift to a more gentle expression.

A Time of Caution

The energy of Mars is also impatient and brings impulsive behavior and accidents into our experiences.  Throughout the year 2006, it will be important to act with caution in all potentially volatile or dangerous activities. We must keep our wits about us and remember to respond to life from the heart, rather than react from a place of fear.

Clearing Anger from the Psyche

Mars activates the emotion of anger. If we have any repressed anger in our unconscious, it may come up for us now. If this occurs, this is the ideal time to process and clear it for good. Anger is one of the more misunderstood emotions. We are most likely to feel angry when our freedom or ability to act is blocked. In our society, it is normal (although unhealthy) to repress, rather than express anger. Our society teaches us that to express anger leads to pain. However, the repression of anger will inevitably lead to the unconscious creation of negative events – including having accidents, attracting aggressive and angry people into our lives and causing sickness and depression. Actually, expressing anger in a positive way (i.e. without hurting yourself, someone else or personal property) is a step up the emotional ladder from depression.  [To gain a greater understanding about anger, and how to deal with this powerful emotion positively, please read the book, FACING THE FIRE, by John Lee.]

Feel, Express, Surrender

Here is a powerful and effective, three-step process to release anger, and all negative emotions:

1)  Fully feel the anger (or any negative emotion) in your body and allow it to build up in intensity.

2) Express the anger (or other negative emotion). It is best to do this alone, and not to another person (unless the person is a trained counselor). Say or write the words “I feel angry!” (or another emotion). The important thing is that you hear yourself say the words or see the words that you write. You may also express anger with a physical action, such as striking a pillow or bed. It is best not to damage or hurt yourself, someone else or personal property.

3) Surrender the negative emotion to God, Spirit or your angels. You can do this effectively by making a statement of absolute Truth that affirms your relationship with Spirit, (e.g., “Divine Spirit is with me now.”). The first two steps are a psychological process, which begins the healing of your psyche. The third step will transmute the negative emotion and fill the vacancy in your psyche with Divine Light. You may need to repeat these three steps a number of times to completely release all of the anger (or other negative emotion).

A Time for Positive Action

Mars also brings the energies of passion, enthusiasm, leadership, sexuality, and courageous new beginnings. This is a powerful time to take creative action and to begin a new direction that will lead you towards greater good. It is best to follow your inspirations and listen to your heart at the same time, in order to know how and when to take action.
